The Game of “Catch Up!”

Dear Military Wife,

Do you ever feel like you are just playing a game of “catch up?” Some days you can really feel the pressure of it.

Catching up on sleep. Catching up with the day. Catching up on chores. Catching up trying to take care of yourself. All the while you don’t seem to be moving as fast as you’d like, or getting the things done you’d like to get done. Feelings of guilt and feeling like a failure are (always) swift to rush in at the most in-opportune times, to impair you further… if you let it.

I am here to tell you today, that YOU are doing a great job! You are a great mom! The best! You are worthy!

You are not alone, and you may have heard that expression overused and on repeat, but I challenge you right now, to believe such a statement! Because it’s true! You are not alone!

It’s ok to not have everything done right now. It’s ok that nothing is living up to your standards right now. It’s ok to not have all the answers. It’s ok if there are dishes in the sink. It’s ok if the kids haven’t had a bath in a while-they’ll survive! It’s ok if the laundry is piling up. Its ok if you feel like you don’t have a handle, on literally anything at the moment! It’s ok! I promise!

There will always be something to do, and things will get done when they get done- don’t worry! I give you permission to be ok

with everything, you feel like- is slipping out of your fingers… and to take a step back and realize that you are still doing a great job! Just because life gets messy, does not mean that you are a mess yourself!

My prayer for you today is that you would leave all the pressure, and all the expectations you have of yourself, at the feet of Jesus. Allow Him to help carry your load. Often time we play this game of “catch up” and we get so consumed with all the worries and burdens of life that we forget to run to the Source Of All Life-to find our strength, and to be reminded of our purpose. Don’t let the business of the day and all the many things that you need to do-steal your joy.

You are capable. You are strong. You are brave. You are a daughter of the Most High God! He is true. He is faithful, and He will never leave you! Give yourself a break, and give yourself grace. You are deserving in every way. You are doing a great job!

“I don’t have anything left to give,” I told my spouse over the phone. “Everything I have goes to the kids. I’m sorry.” Crying, I hung up the phone a complete mess. "I can’t do this anymore" I thought

A tribute to the mil spouse whose service member just deployed. Your servicemember just left? You have little kids that rely on you? Away from family and friends? Well, please do me a favor right now…

No one can take this heavy burden of deployment from you. You can't stop it. There's nothing you can say or do to change the military's mind unfortunately. I give you permission to be a mess. Oh? You'
